He always remained focused on his work and curious about learning more and more. Irrfan started his career from a merely small uncredited role and gained fame globally by working with renowned Hollywood actors.

Life Story of Irrfan Khan

Early Life

Born in Jaipur, Irrfan Khan originally belonged to Khajuriya village, Tonk District, Rajasthan. Among the four siblings, he was at number two. His father had a tire business and wanted Irrfan to join his business. But Irrfan had already decided to become something else.

He was also a good cricketer and played cricket at the domestic level. 

At the age of 15, he was very impressed by Nasiruddin Shah’s acting and decided to become like him. When he was pursuing an MA from Jaipur, a theater artist Khurram Khan suggested to him that if you want a career in acting then you should pursue a degree from the National School of Drama, Delhi

Without wasting a moment after completing a Master’s in Arts degree, he came to Delhi and applied in NSD. On his first attempt, he got selected.

After graduated from NSD in 1987, he moved to Mumbai to follow his dream.

Success Story

He started his career from Mira Nair’s film Salaam Bombay with a small role of a few seconds as a letter writer. In his struggling days, he did many television serials like Laal Ghas Par Neele Ghode, Darr, Kahkashan, Bhanvar, Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, etc. Irrfan Khan started gaining recognition by playing the famous character of Somnath in a popular TV serial Chandrakanta

He also appeared in movies for small roles like Ek Doctor Ki Maut, Such a Long Journey, and Kamla Ki Maut. But from the movie Maqbool and Haasil, he started being counted in the Indian film industry. However, he played supporting roles in both films. 

His first breakthrough in a lead role was Rog (2005). He was appreciated by critics for this movie. After Rog, he never looked back and did many commercially and critically acclaimed movies.

Irrfan was not confined only to Bollywood. He made his international debut from the movie Warrior (2001). In the year 2008, he appeared in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. After this film, he began to receive many offers from Hollywood and gained fame globally.

Death

Irrfan Khan was suffering from a very rare disease Colon Infection. on 29 April 2020, he passed away a day after admitted to Mumbai hospital. The whole world mourned for such a big loss. Though his great performances will always keep reminding of him.
